Correct biomechanics of the foot allows us to walk, run, jump and move freely without pain or dysfunction. Foot biomechanics studies the relationship of the foot to the lower leg. During walking and running, the musculoskeletal system generates forces to propel the body forward. The foot serves two main functions: to act as a mobile adaptor to adjust to varying terrain, and as a rigid lever for forward propulsion in locomotion.
Biomechanics of the foot analyzes how the various structures of the foot work together to perform specific functions.
Excessive or prolonged motion, or lack of motion, will cause various deformities and pathologies which can be addressed through custom orthotics:
We use the Footmaxx System for fabrication of our custom orthotics.
Your physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your feet in both weight bearing and non-weightbearing, as well as a gait analysis. Then a comprehensive 3Dmaxx scan of your feet will be taken in order to manufacture your custom orthotics.
Your therapist will work with you to determine the best orthotic for your needs; whether it’s daily wear in work shoes, high performance athletics, hiking, running, dress shoes, or sandals.
Let us help you reduce your pain and maximize your potential!
